Review:
No one does base sets like Topps.
From the school of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, Topps has once again taken the design of its
baseball base set and adapted it for Football, with top of the line results. Base sets are simple, of
course. Load up a product with cards of, well, everyone (or, in the case of football, almost
everyone), add in tons of prospect cards, then throw in at least two inserts or parallels per pack,
and whammo, you’ve got a box breaking experience that is awfully tough to beat.
It is silly to rate every insert set, of course, although I pulled one heck of a sweet Terrell Owens
relic, and beat the odds (1 in 62) in grabbing a black parallel (the design of the set makes these
cards look extra sharp, by the way). The Armed Forces cards highlight a fan of a given team in the
armed forces, while the Dynasties are very attractive, with big numbers and Super Bowl logos in
the design (I love logos!!!!).
What more can be said. When opening a base set like this one is this much fun, there is nothing
to complain about.......................
