Review:
Yawn.
Why tinker with something successful. The 2007 Topps set design is one of the most popular in
recent memory, and has been transferred across all sports base sets by the company. So it
comes as no surprise that 2007 Topps Updates and Highlights is simply more of the same
black-bordered goodness.
Products like this are very easy to review (hence the shortness of this one). Great base card
design, updated photos of traded players and rookies, highlights from the 2007 season. What else can a
collector ask for? All of the basic parallels and inserts from the season are here, as well, just offering the
consumer a bit more bang for the buck. Relics and autos are gravy, of course, if you are lucky enough to
get one.
So what is different? Well, look at the card on the right of Poley Walnuts. Someone at Topps clearly has a
sense of humor, and has added a few hidden gems like this in the checklist. Keep your eyes open for
some unannounced variations and quirky cards like this that are surfacing.
My one complaint about this set is the actual quality of the cards. I noticed quite a few scuffs and creases
on many of the cards, which might indicated a rush to get the product on shelves. That will knock my grade
down a hair, because it popped up enough for me to believe it isn't something that is isolated. But the actual set itself earns
the highest marks....................
