Review:
Why mess with success?
My review of Topps Series 1 said it all about the 2007 base set. This is one of my favorite designs
in recent years, and obviously is not going to change for Series 2. Mix in the biggest rookie card of
the last few years in Daisuke Matsuzaka, and this is a can't-miss box.
As with Series 1, there are lots of bells and whistles that make breaking a box of Series 2 a thrill
for any type of collector. Tons of inserts and parallels are included, falling at least one per pack, with plenty
of packs having two, and the Red Back parallels are back at two per pack, as well. Stalwarts such as Hit
Parade and Topps Stars are here, along with the continuation of the Mickey Mantle inserts and the cross
brand A-Rod Road to 500 inserts. Added into the mix are cards celebrating the legendary 56 game hit
streak of Joe DiMaggio, along with his less-famous 61 game streak while with the San Francisco Seals.
It is tough to say much that I didn't say in my review of Series 1, so I'll keep this short and say that, as
always with any Topps base set, this is a mandatory purchase. Factor in all of the bonus content (and, if
you are lucky enough, a relic or autograph - at long odds, yes, but they are out there), and this is an
easy...................
