Review:
Topps Opening Day is card collecting in 2007 at its simplest.

The concept to Opening Day is simple. Take the base Topps set, tweak the coloring, add some
cards, remove some others, and voila, you have a set that is simple to collect, especially for kids. I
am especially fond of the mascot cards that are scattered throughout the checklist, as I'm sure
many young collectors will be, as well.

Of course, there is more to a pack of Opening Day than that, though. Each six card pack has at
least one Opening Day parallel card #ed to 2007, with many packs having two of the cards. These cards contain the words
"Opening Day, April 1, 2007" in foil at the top, so it is very easy to differentiate between the sets. So, in essence, Opening Day
is two sets in one, making set-builders potentially very, very happy.

There is more to Opening Day, too. There is a 20-card puzzle featuring many of the biggest names in baseball. Likewise for
the Diamond Stars inserts (one complaint about these cards, though is how dark they are - I tried to scan one for inclusion in
this review, but it was difficult to see). There are also Alex Rodriguez Movie Gallery cards, good for a video game rental at some
video chain stores.

In all, whether you like Opening Day or not is going to come down to how much you like building sets. With two sets in one
here, this one could be a lot of fun for a lot of people.......................
